Anti-Aging Nutrients and Interventions for Longevity
The Complete Evidence-Based Guide to Diet, Supplements, Drugs, and Lifestyle for a Longer Healthspan
About this volume
Anti-Aging Nutrients and Interventions for Longevity is Book K2 of The Performance & Human Physiology Encyclopedia — a 93-volume, university-level library on what genuinely extends healthspan, and what is being sold to you. It is written for longevity-minded readers, biohackers and clinicians who want the evidence: deep enough that a professional already trained in the field keeps learning, structured clearly enough that a motivated reader can follow every step.
How this book is written
- University level, without dilution. Exact scientific terminology, defined at first use — mechanisms, not just conclusions.
- Myths tested against the evidence. Where a popular claim does not survive the evidence, the book says so — and shows why.
- References at the end of every chapter. Sources cited in APA 7 style, plus a master bibliography.
For general information and education only; not medical advice. Consult a qualified health professional before acting on its content.

From Chapter 1 — From Biology to Action: The Landscape of Longevity Interventions
"The previous book explained why we age. This one asks the harder, more practical question everyone really wants answered: what can you actually do about it? The honest answer is a map, not a magic bullet — a landscape of interventions ranging from the rock-solid (move your body, eat well, sleep) to the genuinely promising (fasting, certain drugs in trials) to the frankly oversold (most supplements and clinics). This chapter draws that map and gives you the compass — an evidence hierarchy — to navigate it without being sold a fantasy."
Its companion volume, The Biology of Aging and Epigenetics (Book K1), made one thing clear: aging is not a single thing but a network of twelve interconnected hallmarks, partly heritable and partly modifiable, and the realistic goal is healthspan (healthy years) rather than immortality. This book — K2 — is the applied sequel. It surveys, as comprehensively and honestly as possible, everything people propose to do about aging: diets and fasting protocols, vitamins and minerals, polyphenols and "sirtfoods," NAD⁺ and mitochondrial nutrients, omega-3s and the microbiome, longevity drugs (geroprotectors), senolytics and regenerative medicine, epigenetic and reprogramming approaches, hormones, exercise, hormesis, sleep, and even the psychology and social fabric of a long life.
It is, deliberately, a bible of longevity interventions — broad, detailed, and structured. But breadth without judgment is worthless (and dangerous), so the organizing spirit throughout is the same as K1's: confident where evidence is strong, skeptical where it is weak, and clear about what is unproven or sold as more than it is. The longevity field is awash in genuine science and commercial hype, often in the same sentence; this book's central service is to keep them separate.
A grounding statement, repeated from K1 and reinforced here:
The interventions with the strongest human evidence are unglamorous lifestyle factors — physical activity above all, plus diet quality, sleep, not smoking, and social connection. Most supplements, "anti-aging" clinics, hormone "optimization," and "reverse aging" cures are unproven in humans, and some are harmful. This book is informational, not a medical or anti-aging protocol (Book N4); it does not tell you to take drugs, hormones, or supplement stacks, and several interventions it explains must never be self-administered.
